In some recent DVD sales I decided to splurge and pick up the entire series of Boston Legal. It was always a show that I enjoyed, but only ever watched in bits and pieces as it aired on television. I am so so so so so happy with this splurge.

Boston Legal follows the exploits of the legal firm “Crane, Poole and Schmidt”. Starring James Spader, William Shatner and Candice Bergen the show is a hilarious look into the work, lives and questionable ethics of a group of high flying, but quirky lawyers. The characters have huge egos and get themselves into the most ridiculous/humorous of situations, but the writing also explores some of the most interesting ethical and social dilemmas that were being faced by America in the mid 00s (though many are still very relevant right now).

The writing is great, the cast are on fire and it strikes a great balance between funny and poignant. If you overlooked it when it was on television I highly recommend giving it another look.
